Petro-Chemical and Hazardous Locations masthead

Enclosure Cooling in Petrochemical & Hazardous Locations

Chemical processing plants and fossil fuel refineries can be some of the most safety-critical applications one may face. These hazardous locations often present challenges such as flammable liquids, explosive gases, and corrosive ambient air environments. To avoid accidents, the electrical equipment located within these hazardous environments must adhere to strict safety guidelines such as the National Electric Code (NEC). Published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the NEC standards limit the types of materials and circuitry used in hazardous areas and promote the safe installation of electrical wiring and equipment. Whether operations are located offshore or inland, only highly engineered and specialized enclosure cooling equipment will satisfy the requirements of the NEC and do the job safely. Using the right electrical cabinet air conditioning solution can help avoid costly downtime and, more importantly, reduce the risk of a fire or explosion in NEC Class I, Divisions 1 & 2 Hazardous Locations.
